Kate Marrian Design was appointed to provide a fresh perspective on a large family home in the south of Edinburgh. The commission entailed the sourcing of furniture, lighting and fittings, and to help have existing furniture restored and reupholster to blend with new designs in the victorian house.
The client had begun renovations to the house independently, but after losing motivation, and needing to invest precious time in her own business, invited KM Design to breath new life into the project.
It was very important to the client that her new furniture and fittings not only functioned well, but where also unique. This required exhaustive searches of local and national design stores. Each piece was carefully chosen to compliment and harmonise with existing furniture.
Commissioned to provide design and project management services on a renovation project in an Edinburgh New Town property. Requiring considerable updating in order to increase the propertly sale value. The whole property was stripped back, a new kitchen and bathroom where fitted and the orginal timber floors where sanded back to their former glory. A carefully chosen colour palette along with a contemporary kitchen and bathroom compli
The brief was to create a bathroom that combined contemporary and traditional elements within a large Art Nouveau style seaside home. The bathroom was in need of a complete re-fit, having remained untouched for twenty years. A relatively flexible budget presented the opportunity to source high specification finishes and fittings and to experiment with a variety of materials.
The size of the room was limited and required imagination to create a practical yet spacious and airy family bathroom. The client was specifically keen on the use of corian as a material. A bespoke design was prepared for a corian worktop to sit on pre-fabricated storage units. Large travertinio tiles fixed width ways provided the illusion of more space.
The use of corian continues into the adjoining toilet, creating a connection between the two spaces. Concealed lighting at floor level creates a feeling of light and a greater impression of volume.
